Who Inspires Me?

“What inspires you to do what you've been doing all these years?” This question from my friend while chatting this morning really caught my heart. It got me thinking, it's the people in my life – the encouragers, the believers who have kept my heart pumped up with excitement all this time.

Hands up in surrender

Throughout my life, I have been surrounded with people who have motivated and mentored me. At a very young age, my mom would encourage me to learn at least 3-5 new words from the dictionary, know the spelling, its meaning and usage in a sentence or conversation. These mother-daughter life episodes developed in us a passion for writing.  Now, she still loves to personally hand write cards and notes to people close to her and I, on the other hand, would go on to literally work for Hallmark cards.
The community service aspect of my life went through the same process. Moving here from Manila made me doubt not just my capability to do great things but my ability to do  anything at all. I worried about everything. It took selfless, genuine beings to break me. Soon, I had my hand up in the air in surrender, getting the attention of the laughing Jesus. Nope, He wasn't laughing at me, He was laughing with me. That was when I got back to liking the sound of His love-ter (not laughter) so much that I didn't raise only one hand but I have had two hands up in the air ever since.

Encouragers and believers

You see, believers believing believers are very important. Encouragers encouraging encouragement are key factors in building up our hope-filled hearts to do so much more than what we've been doing in comfort. Last night, I was reminded that if we want to "feed.. tend.. feed.. and follow" Him, we need to take out the word "comfort" out of our systems.
Although our Lord continuously pours buckets and buckets of cookies for us to eat, sometimes we need to eat the spinach to know the real use of our taste buds, to fully experience the difference between being (and walking) with Him and walking away from Him.

So who inspires me? You, the beautiful YOU who continues to support me by reading this love thought-bubble. The wonderful YOU who walks with me with a prayer, knowing that we need to get His life and words out there. YOU who has been patiently waiting for me to work on myself to be a better person.
